WWE No Way Out 2012 Review
Match 1: World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler – This match just shows how much Ziggler really needs something else besides this “Show Off” shit and Vickie and Swagger. The match was almost psychological in some parts with constant holds by Ziggler, which is like him, but the match was slow in general. It did start to pick up during the last few minutes, but it wasn’t enough to come back from the set backs of the match it had earlier, Sheamus retained with a Brogue Kick. Rating: 2 out of 5 Stars
Match 2: Santino Marella vs. Ricardo Rodriguez (Tuxedo Match) – This tux match wasn’t anything surprising. It was just a way to get Santino a win and maybe even a match on pay per view. By the end of the match, a cobra on the foot took out Ricardo and got his tux removed completely for the win. Rating: 2 out of 5 (for humor at the end with the ADR “appearance”, prevented a lower score)
Match 3: WWE Intercontinental Champion Christian vs. Cody Rhodes – This match was sustained, and at a good pace. It had a lot of near falls and false finishes. This may be considered slow by others but it was sustained, not too slow or too fast. Cody Rhodes went for Cross-Rhodes many times, only to get a killswitch by Christian, to be kicked out by Cody. At the end, another Cross-Rhodes attempt went into a spear to keep the title on Christian. Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars
Match 4: The Usos (Jimmy & Jey) vs. Primo & Epico vs. Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel vs. The Prime Time Players ( Titis O’Neil & Darren Young) (Fatal 4 Way tag match for tag team title contendership) – This match up with these four teams wasn’t bad at all. When they announced it as it was happening, I thought “aww man…” but I’m surprised how nicely it flowed. Each team got some good time in, nice offense from all men and there was a couple false finishes, and as the past couple matches, it had a sustained flow. A.W. helped to give the Prime Time Players the win and thus a new allegiance was born between the three and are now the contenders for the tag titles. Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars
Triple H came out to challenge Brock Lesnar to a fight at Summerslam. Said that it was about being fighters. First to get rid of the lawyers, the legal shit and the balding managers, to settle it once and for all at Summerslam.
Match 5: Divas Champion Layla vs. Beth Phoenix – It was decent for a Divas match. Layla was countering Beth Phoenix for pretty much the whole match. The psychology was there with Beth pretty much getting out smarted the whole match. In the end, Layla picked up the win and her championship retained. Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars
Match 6: Sin Cara vs. Hunico – The Sin Cara azul vs. Sin Cara negro match pretty much again. These two could have a good match and they did. It was full of great moves and counters. We have seen this before and have put on good matches, they did do it again. As with the lights turned down to the lighting, it was obvious Sin Cara was gonna win with his armbar swirley move. Decent match but coulda gone on longer. Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars
Match 7: WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Kane – This match had your usual triple threat antics. It was somewhat slow even for two of the three men that were in the match. Each man got their offense in and some got a little bit of one on one match so to speak. Daniel Bryan managed to get the YES! Lock and almost got the win. After Bryan got taken out of the equation, AJ ran down, to get knocked off the apron by Kane, and his worry for AJ got him in the GTS to retain the title for Punk again. This wasn’t anything special and was actually not as good as I had anticipated. Rating: 2 1/2 out of 5 Stars
Match 8: RyBack vs. 2 Jobbers – I only got the last name of one of them, Delaney. It was the typical 2 against 1 jobber match Ryback has, completely dominating the match and was short and to the point. Rating: 1 out of 5 Stars
Match 9: Big Show vs. John Cena (Steel Cage Match) – This match is a very slow going match, the element of the cage can do wonders for a match, in this case, it really hurt the match because there was “No Way Out”. Inteference from Vince and Johnny Ace almost cost Cena the match. After both refs being knocked out as well as Cena, Brodus Clay prevented Show, along with help from various superstars, to prevent show from escaping. John Cena escaped before Show did as he climbed over the top as Show crawled through the door. The way the ending went, just overbooked the ending and even if it was fun seeing Johnny Ace get fired (wish it really happened), the match still wasn’t worth much. Another Cena main event with no meaning in the end. Rating: 2 1/2 out of 5 Stars
Overall Rating: 2 out of 5 Stars
