Hello again everyone. Today is Friday. That means it’s my turn to bring you the news. This will be my last recap before Mania, so let’s get into it.
As with every Friday, let’s start with Impact last night.
Bout Damn Time-Last night, Velvet Sky faced Madison Rayne 1 on 1, with Velvet coming out on top. After the match Christy Hemme interviewed Velvet asking her what’s next. Velvet said She was never given her rematch for the title so shes gunning for Gail.
I had actually forgotten Velvet never got a rematch. Apparently so did alot of people since it’s been almost 5 months now. Don’t know if Gail vs Velvet is Lockdown quality, but its a match I want to see.
GM Situation-Earlier in the night, a video was shown of Dixie and Hogan talking. Dixie was doing her damnedest to get Hogan to accept, but Hogan was hesitant. Hogan said he’d think about it. Dixie said she’d appreciate an answer by the end of Impact.
Fast forward to the end of the show. Dixie came out and invited Hogan to the ring. Hogan came down and said he closed the book on the evil Hogan that stole the company. He made piece with everyone. The Sting came out with Storm, AJ, Morgan, Hardy, Devon, Anderson, and Garrett.
Sting said Hogan can’t deny himself, Dixie, and the fans want they want. Hogan says he wants a totally clean slate. He asked if Sting will always watch his back. Sting said yes and asked for Hogan’s decision. Hogan finally accepted to be the new GM of Impact.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT! I don NOT want to see Hogan on my TV every damn week. I am so pissed about this that I thought about no longer watching TNA until Hogan is gone. I won’t do that though because of my commitment to this column and more importantly, my readers.
Big Return Announced– During the Hardy/Anderson match Tenay and Taz announced that next week we will see the return of the Motor City Machine Guns.
I can’t wait. I LOVE watching Sabin and Shelly in the ring. I think a MCMG vs Joe and Magnus feud could be great. I hope they don’t run into bad luck injury wise again.
World Premiere- TNA debuted the music video for James Storm’s theme “Long-necks and Rednecks” featuring Montgomery Gentery and Cowboy Troy. Rather than try to describe it, I’ll just show it to you.
Not gonna lie. I like country music, but I’m very Meh about this song and video. I don’t see why TNA is trying so hard. Storm is already over so whats the point?
Final Challenge– Eric Bischoff came out and said he gets what he wants. He wanted Sting gone as GM and got it. He wanted Dixie to find someone less competent as Sting as a replacement and got it. Now he wants Garrett gone. So he issued a challenge. Garrett vs Gunner in a cage at Lockdown. Garrett came out and said he’ll won’t be scared out of being in the business. He’ll face Gunner at Lockdown.
Oy. Gunner and Garrett in a cage? Does anyone want to see this? I’m calling it now. There will be an escape the cage stipulation causing Gunner to launch Garrett through the cage door giving Garrett a BS win.
And that was Impact. Lets see what else is going on as we creep closer and closer to Mania.
Stars to miss HOF Ceremony-Kelly Kelly, The Big Show and The Miz will be missing the Hall Of Fame induction ceremony due to the Kids Choice Awards on Nickelodeon. Kelly Kelly is nominated for an award, whereas Show and Miz will be involved in a “Slime Wrestling Match”.
What the hell is a slime wrestling match? If it’s wrestling in a kiddie pool full of that green crap they pour on you heads, I’d rather see Kelly Kelly and AJ Lee involved. Doesn’t really matter that they won’t be at the HOF because none of them are being honored or being inductors.
WWE Network Update– Latest word on the WWE Network is that they are close to a distribution deal.
When asked about it Chief Marketing Executive Michelle Wilson said they have 30 people hired to run the network and plan to fill 120 jobs. She also denied WWE ever mentioning a specific launch date, despite WWE originally announcing April 1 to be the date the Network debuts.
So apparently this is still a thing. I thought WWE finally gave up on this idea and that’s why they launched all the You Tube shows instead.
Speaking of which
Reason Behind You Tube Shows- When asked, Wilson said the revamped You Tube channel was never intended to be a replacement for the network. The shows on You Tube were designed to create interest in the weekly TV Shows, create a few more buys for the PPVs, and sell a little more merchandise by being an addition to what you see on TV.
I’m still not convinced that it was was never to be a replacement for the Network. Personally, I’ve never watch any of the WWE You Tube shows so I can’t comment on how well they are doing myself.
Bad News For Angle– Kurt Angle announced yesterday that he suffered a torn hamstring while training and may miss out on not only ring time in TNA, but the Olympics as well. Angle went in for an MRI this morning to determine how bad the injury is. The results haven’t been announced yet as of this writing.
Angle had this to say: “I still plan on going [to the Olympics] … I’ve been training for a whole year now … so it all depends on how it heals … but if this tear is really bad, there’s a chance I may not go.”
That sucks for Kurt. Granted he himself said his chances of making the team were slim to none. Still that would have been huge for TNA as well as Angle personally. I hate reporting injuries, I really do. I hope he recovers quickly and fully.
And that’s all the news for today.
Stand by for plugs in 3
